The Baltimore Ravens signed Trey Hendrickson to a four-year, $112 million contract, keeping one of the NFL’s most productive pass rushers in the AFC North.
Hendrickson gives Anthony Weaver’s defense a player who can create pressure without requiring extra rushers, which matters in today’s NFL, especially in a division with difficult quarterback matchups.
The Ravens are currently standing 13th in the American Football Conference with a 5-12 record, on a W2 streak, and their next game is against the Indianapolis Colts on 2026-09-13.
If Hendrickson demands slide protection or chip help, the Ravens can create cleaner matchups for Mike Green, Zion Young, Tavius Robinson, and Adisa Isaac, allowing them to develop without being forced to carry the pressure package immediately.
Hendrickson, 31, was coming off back-to-back 17.5-sack seasons and four straight Pro Bowls before contract frustration and core muscle surgery in December limited him to four sacks in seven games in 2025.
Hendrickson’s presence also impacts the secondary, as coverage becomes easier when the quarterback has less time, allowing the Ravens to win with four rushers and keep more defenders in coverage.
The Ravens already have a talented defensive back group with Marlon Humphrey, Nate Wiggins, Chidobe Awuzie, Kyle Hamilton, and Malaki Starks.
For Baltimore, the immediate value is bigger than the number, as Hendrickson gives them a finishing presence on the edge, a way to protect their young rushers, and a cleaner path to playing coverage behind pressure.
The contract is not small, averaging $28 million per season, but Hendrickson needs 19 sacks to reach 100 for his career, a milestone that would only strengthen his case as one of the defining pass rushers of his era.
